Foot and Ankle Specialist

Mr Edward Gee is a UK trained Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot and ankle surgery.

His wide scope of practice encompasses all aspects of foot and ankle conditions, including minor and major trauma, sports injuries, arthritic conditions of the foot and ankle, instability of the ankle, bunions, painful toes, plantar fasciitis, mortons neuromas and deformities of the feet such as flat feet and high arches. He has a specialist interest in treating sporting professionals and recreational athletes, and performing cutting edge techniques in joint preservation and ligament reconstruction.

Mr Gee was born in Manchester where he grew up, and completed his medical training at the University of Birmingham in 2008. He completed Orthopaedic higher-surgical training in Manchester in 2018, being accepted onto the specialist register as a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics, and is appointed as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot and ankle surgery at Salford Royal Hospital, which is the “major trauma centre” for the Manchester region, treating the most severely injured patients.

Mr Gee has completed a specialist Fellowship in Foot and Ankle surgery with Tim Shcneider, David Shepherd and Paul Rice from the renowned Melbourne Orthopaedic Group in Australia, with travelling fellowship awards from the British Orthopaedic Association and the prestigious gold award from the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. This fellowship further developed his specialist interest in all aspects of Foot and Ankle surgery including the treatment of elite athletes. With this increased surgical skill set, Mr Gee is able to provide a bespoke service, offering the best treatment for every condition, and ensuring your treatment is specific to you and your needs.

Mr Gee is dedicated to personal service and takes the time to explain the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation to each patient, as he believes strongly that understanding is crucial to success. He is regularly complimented on his communication skills and caring attitude. Where appropriate he uses arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques and places particular emphasis on close working relationships with physiotherapists, orthotists and podiatrists to ensure optimal outcomes for his patients.

Mr Gee plays a strong role in education, leading certain modules in the higher-level training of junior Orthopaedic Surgeons in the Manchester region and being in charge of training in his department, also being awarded “trainer of the year”. He is an examiner for the University of Manchester Medical School and has lectured at the University of Salford. He is on the faculty of numerous regional, national and international surgical courses and regularly lectures on multiple topics. Mr Gee has published multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented at many national and international conferences, winning several prizes for his work. He continues to have an active role in research.
